How it connects today

No dedicated appWorks today: paste or upload into Clinch

There is no Clinch add-on for Google Docs. It works today in two ways: download the Doc as PDF and upload it to Clinch, or send the Doc's text through the Clinch API with a short Apps Script.

Three recipes

  • Upload the Doc as PDF

    File → Download → PDF in Google Docs, then Upload a PDF in Clinch: add the client and send it for signature.

  • Paste the text and keep editing in Clinch

    Copy the Doc and choose Paste your own text: the contract becomes editable, and it is locked and hashed once sent.

  • A one-click script in your Doc

    An Apps Script calls the Clinch API with the Doc's name and text and the client as signer: the contract goes out without leaving Google Docs.

Set it up

  1. Quickest: in Google Docs choose File → Download → PDF document.
  2. In Clinch, open New contract, choose Upload a PDF and select the file.
  3. Add the client's name and email and, if you want, a deposit amount.
  4. Send: the client signs from their phone without an account. For the script route, create an API key in Settings → API and use the example below.

Example

// Apps Script (Extensions → Apps Script in your Doc)
function sendForSignature() {
  const doc = DocumentApp.getActiveDocument();
  UrlFetchApp.fetch("https://clinch.lumnika.com/api/v1/documents", {
    method: "post",
    contentType: "application/json",
    headers: { Authorization: "Bearer clk_your_key" },
    payload: JSON.stringify({
      title: doc.getName(),
      text: doc.getBody().getText(),
      signers: [{ name: "Jane Doe", email: "jane@acme.com" }],
    }),
  });
}

Questions

Why not use Google Docs' own eSignature?

It needs a paid Workspace plan and does not collect a deposit. Clinch adds mobile signing without an account, a deposit request at signature and invoices.

Is there a Google Docs add-on?

No. Upload the PDF or use the Apps Script example; both work today.

Is the signed contract legally valid?

Electronic signatures are valid for most freelance contracts in the US, UK and EU. Clinch keeps an audit trail and a hash of the signed document.
