Assignment clause for freelancers

An assignment clause: neither party can transfer the contract to someone else without consent, except in a sale of the business.

Assignment clause: copy and adapt

Neither party may assign or transfer this agreement, or any rights or obligations under it, without the prior written consent of the other party, which will not be unreasonably withheld. Either party may assign this agreement without consent to a successor in a merger or sale of all or substantially all of its business, on written notice. The right to receive payment may be assigned by the Provider without consent.

When to use it

In every contract. It protects you from suddenly working for a different client you never agreed to.
